Ukraine’s authorities have ordered the forced evacuation of over fifty localities in the Kharkiv region, located in the northeastern part of the country and one of the areas where combat with Russian troops is most active.

“We have to protect families with children as much as possible from Russian terror against the civilian population of the Kharkiv region,” stated Sinegubov.
According to the governor’s shared data, a total of about 150 families with children are affected.
The affected municipalities are in the Kupiansk district, home to about 130,000 people before the start of the Russian invasion at the end of February 2022. Overall, the Kharkiv region is one of the most active war zones.
At least one person died on Thursday due to a Russian Army attack on the Ukrainian city of Vovchansk, located in the Kharkiv province, as reported by Ukrainian authorities.
The provincial Police Chief, Volodimir Timoshko, mentioned in a brief message on his Facebook account that the attack hit a residence, emphasizing that it resulted in another person being injured, without providing further details.
Meanwhile, Sinegubov confirmed in his Telegram account attacks on 22 localities in the last few hours and noted that a 70-year-old man died in an attack in the town of Borov on Wednesday.
The Ukrainian army will stabilize the battlefield situation shortly and aims to form units for counteroffensive actions later this year, said a senior military commander on Wednesday.
Ukrainian forces faced a setback after nine months of mostly stable fronts when the eastern city of Avdiivka fell into Russian hands in early February after months of devastating attacks.
Ukrainian troops were forced to leave several settlements near the city due to Russia’s ongoing offensive amid their increasingly depleted ammunition reserves. Republicans in Congress have stalled a crucial aid package from the United States.
“We will stabilize the situation shortly,” said Oleksandr Pavliuk, appointed commander of the Ukrainian ground forces during the recent military reorganization, in televised comments. “We will do our best to prepare the troops for more active actions and take the initiative.”
“Our goal is to stabilize the front line, cause the most damage (to the enemy), exactly what we are doing, and regroup to withdraw units that require restoration. (Withdraw units) to bases to form offensive groupings and carry out counteroffensive actions this year,” Oleksandr Pavliuk said.
